Prayers for Missions Trips

You or a loved one planning a short-term missions trip? Here are Scriptures you can pray over yourself or your loved one as they travel to the country.

(S) “For He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].”

Psalm 91:11AMP

(P) Thank You God for calling Your angels forth to protect, defend and guard ___/the team as they travel and reach out to the (country) to impact their world for Jesus Christ.

(S) “5 So I thought I should send these brothers ahead of me to make sure the gift you promised is ready. But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given grudgingly. 6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” 10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12 So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. 13 As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:5-13 NLT

(P) God, may You pour out Your blessings in astounding ways so that ____/the team is ready for displaying Your wonders to win the lost. May You give ___/the team all that they need to give generously to the poor and make a lasting impression of Your goodness upon the people. May You God provide much seed to be planted in the hearts and lives of the people for Your glory, receiving Your gift of Jesus Christ as ___/the team share the Good News.

(S) “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”

Acts 4:31 ESV

(P) Heavenly Father, we believe that where ___/the team are, You will shake up the ground where ____/the team are present, filling every person with the Holy Spirit, giving ___/the team boldness to speak Your word.

(S) “We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives.”

Colossians 1:9 CEV

(P) Oh God, fill ___/the team with clarity of direction. May ___/the team receive understanding of where ___/the team are to go and do with spiritual wisdom and discernment as You order ___/the team’s steps while in the (country). May Your gifts flow greatly through ___/the team to make a great impact for Your Kingdom in Jesus’ name.

(S) “But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims, A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of people telling all the good things of God! But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: “Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?” The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.”

Romans 10:15-17 MSG

(P) How awesome are those like ___/the team who are willing to go to (country) and share the gospel of peace. May You God gather many around ___/the team who have open ears to hear the good news of the Gospel. May You Lord give ___/the team success in their travel, transportation, ministry, outreach, drama, testimonies, and prayers over the people of (country). May the lives of the people there be changed, souls saved, healings, miracles, deliverance, and restoration take place for Your glory.

(S) “When you shepherd the flock God has given you, watch over them not because you have to but because you want to. For this is how God would want it not because you’re being compensated somehow but because you are eager to watch over them.”

1 Peter 5:2 VOICE

(P) Thank You God for those individuals You have placed ___/the team in their care to share the Gospel with them. May ___/the team be led by the Holy Spirit to minister to the needs of the people in (country).

(S) “Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! 4 Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!”

Psalm 82:3-4 NET

(P) We thank You God that You defend the poor and fatherless. May ___’s/the team’s work impact the poor and fatherless to make a monumental difference that all will see and be changed spiritually and physically for Your glory. (S) “He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.”

1 Samuel 2:8 NLT
