Handling Stress

Living in an uncertain world with all that surrounds us with family and friends who are walking through challenges along with us, where do we turn to? Sadly many have reverted to temporary 'fixes' that can have detrimental and long-lasting affects on us. We as believers in Jesus Christ have a hope in knowing that He hears us and responds to our prayers. May these Scriptures you pray ignite the fire within you to keep pressing forward, turning to Jesus and letting Him take the burdens and begin to de-stress.

Here are Scriptures marked (S) that relate to this specific topic. Read through them, then you can use the prayer that follows (P) to personalize it for yourself or for someone you are praying for. Speak it out loud and believe God will do a good work in you and your loved ones.



(S) “31 So don’t worry. Don’t say, ‘What will we eat?’ Or, ‘What will we drink?’ Or, ‘What will we wear?’ 32 People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them. 33 But put God’s kingdom first. Do what he wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you. 34 So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

(P) May ___ not worry nor speak into the atmosphere doubt in Your provision God on food, drink, clothing, bills and responsibilities. I see how that’s commonly spoken of, yet Father, You know the need ___ have/has. May ___ put Your Kingdom first and what You want ___ to do. You say as I do/does, You’ll take care of all that ___ needs. I declare that ___ will not worry, knowing You go before us and provide daily for our needs.

(P) I’m grateful to You God for how You care for me/___. I ask You to help me/___ release in to Your hands all the stresses, the burdens and responsibilities that weigh one me/___ that cause worry over faith and trust in You. Help me/___ to leave them in Your hands to take care of each need.



(S) “Do not be shaped by [conformed to; pressed into a mold by] this world [age]; instead be changed within [transformed] by a new way of thinking [or changing the way you think; L the renewing of your mind]. (P) May ___ choose NOT to be pressured to be like everyone else in the world but allow You God to transform ___’s way of thinking, refreshing ___’s thoughts. This will allow ___ to discern/decide what You want God us to do. Thank You for allowing us to know what is good and please You.



(S) “My peace is the legacy I leave to you. I don’t give gifts like those of this world. Do not let your heart be troubled or fearful.”

(P) Thank You Lord for leaving ___ peace. I’m grateful You don’t give with alternative motives or take back Your gifts. Help ___ not feel troubled or fearful in our circumstances, for Your peace is present to receive.

(P) I'm confident that You Father are deeply concerned for us to cause everything to work out the way You ultimately planned that will be good because ___ love/s You. Thank You for a good plan and purpose for ___, decreeing it will be done.



(S) “6 Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. 7 And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 NCV


(P) Help ___ not worry about one thing. Instead, help ___ pray about everything, being mindful to give You God thanks for what you’ve already done and will yet do. Your peace is so great… I can’t fully grasp it yet. It helps steady ___ emotions and thoughts with Jesus’ help.



(S) “ 5 I was in trouble, so I called to the Lord. The Lord answered me and set me free. 6 I will not be afraid, because the Lord is with me. People can’t do anything to me. 7 The Lord is with me to help me, so I will see my enemies defeated. 8 It is better to trust the Lord than to trust people.”

(S) “As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.”

(P) As pressures and stresses take over ___ life, help ___ to find joy in Your Word to help ___ get through.



(S) “Throw your burden upon the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the godly to be shaken.”

(P) I'm grateful that You allow us to throw our stresses and burdens on You God, knowing You will not let ___ be shaken, but keep ___ safe.



(S) “Even in the unending shadows of death’s darkness, I am not overcome by fear. Because You are with me in those dark moments, near with Your protection and guidance, I am comforted.”
