Started Equity Lens Consultants in California in 2020 to address DEI. Searched God’s word to see what God says about the topic. It had to be rooted in Kingdom principles, then applied to business practices.

God shows value to ALL people. We all bring different experiences from our race, background, upbringing, culture, men, women, and social economic status. When we make Jesus a part of our conversation, something happens.

How to help with equity issues

Biblical Equity Symposium - held to share what God says, let the people talk, pray together and see positive changes. People find healing in the process where they no longer hate people.

How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! Psalm 133:1 ESV

Enemy gets us to focus on how different we are and yet we are more alike. There’s so much power in unity, thus he attacks unity.

Examples in the Bible

  1. In Acts, people came together in one accord.

  2. Jesus was with a woman where people wanted to stone her for her sin; Jesus said - he who is sin-free, throw 1st stone.

  3. Workers worked at different times of the day, but at the end, all were paid the same amount.

The world’s perception on fairness is not often a reflection of the heart of God.

Definition of Biblical Equity = fairness that is in direct alignment with the word of God. It governs the way we treat all humans and influences how we determine what is equitable.

What do we do when there’s injustice?

  1. 1. Start with prayer.

  2. 2. Ask the Holy Spirit - what part do you play in bringing about change.

See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15 NIV

How to Make Change

  1. People admire authenticity. We don’t have to go out of our way.

  2. When people don’t look like me, it doesn’t matter; yet we make it matter.

  3. More than having a right understanding about equity, I want people to have Jesus!

  4. Keep treating people with love and honor that can help bring restoration. Don’t give up. People were designed for relationship, not rejection. Honor God by loving one another.

The transformative power of Christ in people’s lives when they receive Him. That leads toward being reconciled one to another Scripture “He who wins souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30b NKJV
